Help me give my students the distance learning experience they deserve! I require much better tech tools in order to record and create videos for them!
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
In deep East Oakland live the most brilliant, powerful, and beautiful students, and I have the honor of teaching them. They are fierce warriors who believe in racial justice and know how much they contribute to the world. They are filled with such love and a desire to explore and understand the world around them.
This year I will be teaching my amazing 8th babies virtually, and they will rise to the challenge of learning US History with a critical eye.
Unfortunately, most of our students do not have access to internet, let alone tech and devices that allow them to access online platforms. I also have an ancient laptop from the district that does not support many sites. I am asking for a laptop in order to have the ability to record and edit videos so that students can view lessons through their phones.
My Project
My students in East Oakland are ready to learn virtually! Getting a laptop would allow me to record and edit videos that they can more easily access through their phones. Apple has the software that allows me to add closed captions and differentiation tools to support my newcomer students and struggling readers. My experience in the spring showed me how important it is for them to have multiple points of access and modalities to learn independently. Unfortunately, most of our students do not have access to internet, let alone tech and devices that allow them to access online platforms.
