Help me give my students access to my counseling services. I am requesting an iPad pro with a keyboard in order to continue to create and deliver interactive social-emotional learning activities as well as effective academic success meetings.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are incredibly resilient. They represent the strong diversity of the bay area ethnically, racially, and economically.
They are ready to connect and are anxious for human connection and are incredibly social!
Every family has their individual challenges, and I want to be a part of making this new educational experience more pleasant. Parents want to help their children but have limitations with some of the educational language and technology.
My Project
I provide both academic and social-emotional support to my students schoolwide and I wouldn't have it any other way! I had to completely restructure the school counseling program in order to be accessible to all students. I have come to realize the reality of outdated technology has added barriers to digital learning. However, I found different resources online that will allow interactive lessons and collaboration.
It is essential to stay in constant contact with my students and their families so that I can assist them in academic, social-emotional, and high school readiness.
My East Oakland students are eager to ask for help! Getting a tablet will allow me to help my students by being able to seamlessly use a variety of platforms simultaneously as I assist them in their academic and personal goals by meeting with them virtually and guiding their academic and social-emotional progress.
The resources I have found depend on strong technology that is challenging in this current time. There is a strong need to make simple and quick transitions with distance learning. Apple has the software that allows me to have a stronger CPU to use applications that create learning modules with Canvas and quality videos for zoom meetings plus editing videos. In addition, a faster CPU and RAM storage allows me to have efficient academic meetings with my students during distance learning. A major plus with the iPad Pro is that I can write on the screen and show my students examples and explain concepts better that will make academic counseling more effective.
