I am a part of opening a brand new elementary school this fall. I have yet to meet my students, but I am eager to get to know them soon!
Since our school is brand new, I am learning about the different needs of each of my students from scratch.
I have a lot of students coming into school for the very first time this year, as I will be teaching kindergarten. Although they are new to the school system, I am sure that they are eager to come each day and learn new things!
My Project
These texts will be implemented into our literacy time. There are a variety of different types of books, which will allow students to be exposed to many types of text, such as literature and informational. These books will help students dive deeper into the text and work on important comprehension skills and strategies.
Utilizing authentic texts will help students more engaged while reading, which in turn will help them gain a love for reading.
Each book will be used for a close read that will span over a week. Allowing students to be a part of read alouds helps to strengthen their fluency skills, and by coming back to the same book it allows them to build stronger comprehension strategies.
