Climbing to Promote Nerve, Muscles and Brain Circuits Development
Help me give my students this outdoor climber to strengthen their large muscles. This will develop their social skills, comprehension skills, and confidence. It also promotes arm and leg strength, balance, and dexterity.
Our mission statement is to "support families and prepare children for success in school and in life.” Our school is located in Lansing, MI and serves families who reside in greater Lansing. Our school provides preschool education services for part day sessions or full day sessions. We provide a comprehensive preschool education for the children and families in this area. We have a total of 244 low income or at risk children in attendance at our school.
Children attend head start to reduce or eliminate the educational barrier that could interfere with educational achievement in kindergarten and beyond.
The children and families who receive head start services represent a variety of cultural backgrounds.
We use Creative Curriculum. This approach sets our classroom content based on the students interest and ability. All of our lessons are individualized to fit each child and their unique style of learning. Children learn best when they are truly invested in the topic. The more they can get a hands-on feel, the more information they will retain.
My Project
Preschool playgrounds for ages two to five are designed to be more complex and challenging to match the development preschoolers.
Children are developing gross motor skills on a playground though climbing, running, and balancing.
These activities and many more form muscles, nerves and brain cells. As children develop coordination, agility, strength, confidence, and motor skills which makes climbing an efficient developmental activity.
The playground is also a good place to allow fun social exchanges with peers, game development (e.g., chase, follow the leader, make believe), and such expanded activities as building tree houses, competing with peers, play and work in nature, and accessing decks, nets, slides, climbers, trapeze bars, and tunnels.
