This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

We are requesting new Everlast Groperz Beginner Hand Holds, for our climbing wall for our beautifully diverse population of K-5 students. We are hoping to add a variety of beginner, intermediate, advanced and realistic holds in order to elevate our climbing wall and make it accessible and challenging to students of all ages and ability levels. We will use our climbing wall during physical education classes to build our student's climbing and fitness skills as well as in after school clubs. Not only will students learn climbing skills, students will learn important social and emotional skills like perseverance, self-confidence, teamwork and problem solving through a variety of engaging challenges. Climbing is a very popular outdoor activity in Northwest Arkansas and being able to expose students to the world of climbing in elementary school will set them up to access a lifetime physical activity opportunity that they might not otherwise have the chance to explore!
