This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I love my class. My students have funny, exciting, and inquisitive personalities. The range and variety of their personalities is what makes them special. In a classroom with such various levels of personal life experiences,
I need to provide experiences, for children growing up in apartment buildings; that are similar to children living in rural or suburban communities.
What better way than, to give the children experiences playing with a treehouse, even if it’s just through dramatic play.
The Lakeshore giant treehouse, its furniture, and pose and play diverse family people sets will provide my students with equitable play experiences.
These materials will provide my class with many chances to engage in conversation with one another, use their imagination, and act out realistic fiction stories. The diverse pose and play people will help the children relate and see themselves as the ones living in the treehouse. Also, the large roll of drawing paper will allow the children to draw out their stories or even design their own treehouses.
This treehouse also a great way to get children to connect to the environment. I expect this treehouse center will be a launching point for conservation and respect for nature. Our school is surround by large trees, I hope this center makes the children more aware of the beauty of trees and their importance.
Learning through playtime helps children in all aspects of their social, personal, and academic lives. It can also help children begin to understand important world issues.
