Climate Change Warriors

My Project

I am blessed to teach an amazing group of students with special needs.

Our school is a Title I school serving a diverse population.

The students I work with are determined and strive to persevere through social, emotional, and academic challenges.

Human activities, a changing climate, and natural disasters are rapidly altering the face of our planet.

With our new iPad students in different grades and classes will get an interactive before-and-after view of these changes on Earth. Some of these locations have suffered a disaster, such as a fire or a tsunami, or illustrate the effects of human activities, such as dam building or urban growth. We will have the opportunity to examine climate change and learn from our mistakes. Students will use the iPad to research how climate change directly impacts our community. Students will also use the iPad to do a community survey using Google Forms to see what and how the community feels about climate change and what the community sees as big issues locally regarding climate change. Then, we will educate others by making posters and hanging them in the community. Students will use this knowledge to make changes in our community and educate others in the community. Students will encourage our community to make changes. For example, setting up recycling areas and picking up litter. We will also host Zoom community meetings and organize litter pick up. Together, we can do this!

So to summarize, this project will bring the school and community together. Students will work with community members by organizing a community clean up day using the iPad. This will involve students in different grades and the community. Students will work on this during our club time.
