Climate and the Environment - Nature Walk and Planting
Help me give my students items like kid-sized binoculars, a plants activity tub, and a Growing Things theme box for a way to explore while on nature walks and to explore how bugs and animals help the environment.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
A nature walk and planting activity can be a wonderful way to teach preschool children about the environment and climate. We can take nature walks and point out different trees and animals. I will explain how they contribute to the environment. We can also play an "I-Spy" game as we take our walks using the binoculars and magnifying glasses.
If children find bugs or insects at school we can temporarily store them in the bug catchers and use the magnifying glasses to observe them.
Reading about nature, animals, and the environment will expose my students to science. The books I chose are The Backyard Bug, It's a Wonderful World, Plant a Garden, and Kitty the Cat Plants. These books can help them understand the importance of taking care of our planet.
With the tube planting from the activity tub, children will be able to understand the life cycle of a plant. Children will be able to have a garden set in the classroom. With the Growing plant theme box, the children will be able to dramatically play and pretend to be gardeners.
Through these activities, preschool children can develop a deeper appreciation for nature and understand their role in protecting the environment and combating climate change. It’s also a great way to foster a sense of responsibility and care for the natural world from a young age.
