My students need a digital camera to help them capture memories throughout the school year, as well as teach them to use and appreciate technology in the classroom.

My Students

Have you ever experienced a "teachable moment"? Say a deer wanders across the school playground, or our butterflies emerge from their chrysalis earlier than expected. Wouldn't you want to be able to capture that on a camera? I know my students would.

My first grade students attend a title one school, and for those that don't know, that means that we have a high percentage of students who receive free or reduced lunch.

We have limited access to technology in our school, and if someone has the camera checked out, we'd have to wait our turn, and lose out on capturing those teachable moments.

My Project

As we switch to common core standards, we have to think about better ways to incorporate technology into the classroom. One easy way to do that, as a start, would be to add a digital camera to our classroom. The students could go on a nature walk outside, and take a video to hear themselves read aloud. The possibilities are endless!

With the support of donors like you, the students in my classroom will be one step closer to having full time access to a small piece of technology.

Help them capture memories, remember their friends, and have something to look forward to each day they enter the classroom.
