This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students have been handed a lot of challenges in life that are of no fault of their own, ranging from emotional and learning disabilities to mental health issues, to poverty, and neglect. These challenges are so major that the students' future goals often take a back seat and seem impossible. Many of our students live in neighborhoods where they cannot go outside and explore their interests or talents because it is just too dangerous, and in some cases, their parents cannot afford to put them in extracurricular activities. Our class is the only time some get to explore and gain experience.
My students are wonderful, ambitious individuals who have their whole future ahead of them to make changes to the lifestyle they were brought up in.
With a little help from the right people, anything is possible!
My Project
We are a special needs school, and we are providing vocational hours within the school setting to assist our students with internship hours towards graduation. Normally we would have our students go out into the community for work experience (internships). However, due to Covid-19 our students are not able do so. So we decided to create a clerical program within our school, to teach our students clerical skills. With this program, we hope to give our students work experience for their resumes. We would like a printer to teach our students how to copy papers, using the various features on the copier. We would also like a shredder to teach our students how to shred important documents. We appreciate all donations, no matter how small. Thank you in advance for believing and investing in our students' future.
