Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are just plain awesome! Regardless of their daily struggles they always prove to persevere! For many of my students, our classroom is their second home, even as uts moved into the virtual world. It is their safe space where they can escape the many pressures of adolescence and just be themselves.
Rather than the easy route of giving up, my students choose to come together, to push themselves and to persevere, no matter how far they are behind academically.
They are dedicated students who continuously push themselves to be better.
100% of my students receive free or reduced-price lunch based on their socioeconomic status. Once you get them excited about a topic or strategy, they are totally engaged in what we are doing. I want to give them that spark for all that they do, which will become a challenge as we transition to the remote setting. My goal is to set them up for success by providing them with the tools they need to access the curriculum effectively at home during the global pandemic.
My Project
We need soccer cleats, we need a lot of soccer cleats and we need them fast.....please!! Our middle school students have missed out on 2 years of instructional middle school soccer due to COVID-19 closures. Our Middle School Girls soccer team hasn't had the opportunity to play since 2019 (our current 8th graders were in 6th grade)
Most of our inner city, middle school students have never gotten the chance to learn or play instructional middle school soccer due to COVID closures and restrictions, but its back!
We are SO excited and looking forward to students being able to socialize, play and learn through after school instructional soccer in our inner city district program. Students can sign up and play for free, they receive all items them need to play except cleats. This project will provide cleats for any/ all students who want to play but may not strictly because of the cost and availability of cleats right now.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
