This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
The various disruptions from COVID have made regular attendance challenging for our students. I've been recording video guidance to help students who've missed lessons get caught up, but it can be difficult to hear in a crowded room, especially since many are not native English speakers.
My students are enthusiastic about the possibilities of digital art and, as a generation of digital natives, they have the potential to create some of the best work in this format that we've ever seen.
My Project
We're attempting to fill several gaps with this project.
Headphones will allow students to hear recorded guidance videos more clearly - helping them catch up when they've been away from the classroom or have forgotten a concept and need to review.
They will also allow us to start to experiment with sound design and digital music. (VA:Cr2.1.1 - Demonstrate persistence in developing skills with various methods of creating art.)
Mouse pads will help with mouse dexterity during digital drawing, photo editing, and pixel art. (VA:Cr2.1.1 - Demonstrate persistence in developing skills with various methods of creating art.)
Light boxes will help with composition. Allowing students to more easily take drawings they have already completed and rearrange them into new compositions. (VA:Cr.2.7.3 - Apply visual organizational strategies to design and produce a work of art.)
