This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach amazing, energetic, creative students with exceptional needs. My current students are 4 year old preschoolers. I currently work with a co-teacher and our classroom is a collaborative classroom with general and special education students working and learning together. Many students in our classroom have learning disabilities ranging from severe (need most support) to mild (need minimal support) which affect their ability to access and use age appropriate curriculum. Despite all their challenges our students enjoy learning and sharing with each other. Although we are learning remotely, our students are doing their very best everyday in this new normal school. Our school is a Title I school with high poverty and 85% English Language Learners.

My Project

The use of a high quality laptop will allow me to provide a clearer, consistent, uninterrupted virtual learning experience for my students with special needs. Due the pandemic, our school district is currently closed and all of our students are learning from home. This has presented more challenges than anyone could have ever imagined. For my students the biggest challenge is the quality of learning experiences, due to my limited and low quality technology. Although I have made some upgrades to my internet service the quality remains poor due to the outdated laptop I use daily, which cannot handle the needs of the software my school district uses.
