This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

By providing my special-day geometry students with a clean, organized learning space, we can create an environment that fosters focus and personal growth. The cleaning supplies I am requesting—microfiber rags, multi-surface wipes, a broom and dustpan, hand sanitizing wipes, and all-purpose cleaning spray—will make a tangible difference in their learning. A clutter-free, hygienic classroom reduces distractions and supports their emotional and academic well-being, giving them a sense of ownership over their space.

The goal of this project is to empower students to take responsibility for maintaining their classroom.

Many of these students struggle with a sense of control and accomplishment in their lives, and giving them the tools to clean and care for their own learning environment instills a sense of responsibility. By using the microfiber towels and cleaning sprays to wipe down desks, sweeping up any mess with the broom and dustpan, and keeping germs at bay with hand sanitizing wipes, students actively contribute to a space that supports learning. This fosters teamwork and accountability, key skills for both academic success and personal development.

What makes my students special is their resilience. Despite facing significant challenges, they come to class with a desire to succeed. Many of them have a history of struggling with math, but they are eager to improve and develop skills that will help them in the future. This project will not only provide a cleaner, healthier environment but also give them the opportunity to take pride in their classroom and their efforts!
