My Students
My students are eager, excited, and love to explore. They absolutely love hands-on, active, engaging projects and challenges that allow them to think outside the box to find solutions! They come to school each day ready to try new things and take brave chances in order to grow both personally and academically.
Our school is nestled in the heart of Brooklyn, East New York.
Each child in my classroom absolutely loves learning, although the method and environment in which they learn best vary greatly. We incorporate a variety of learning strategies, group work, and alternative seating and learning options to ensure that each student's needs are met, right where they are! They are truly an incredible group, and I am so lucky and thankful to have a new group of learners that are excited and ready to learn each year!
My Project
My scholars need clean water at school. Currently, the water is brown and not safe to drink. I am told to run the water fountain for 10 to 20 minutes before I use it for drinking. This takes up valuable time in the classroom. Also, my scholars are too small to reach the water fountains to drink water. Some parents are sending water bottles but this can become too costly for the parents. The children are constantly thirsty because of the steam heat which keeps the room dry and humid. Also, the mask covering their mouth and nose all day is making them ask for more water. When children have great tasting water, they’ll be energized to learn. After gym they can cool down with the fresh water. Also they will learn about water purification.
