This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
The school where I teach second grade is unique: it is a Language Arts and Social Justice Magnet. This year, we decided to focus on the Millennium Development Goals designed by the United Nations. Second grade selected MDG #7 Accessing Clean Water. Now we need supplies to learn about this issue.
Our Language Arts and Social Justice Magnet school emphasizes the respect of self and others.
The kids know they will be Agents of Change and follow our school motto "Be the change you want to see in the world." African-American students form about 75% of our school alongside Hispanic and Asian children. This rich diversity of cultures offers unlimited opportunities to learn tolerance and team work while discovering new perspectives. However, we are also a high poverty school where most students come disadvantaged families that can't afford donations.
My Project
With the water test kits, students would be able to start studying how we, human beings, impact our world. Children will first learn about water components and define water quality. Then, we'd focus on the difficulty to preserve and access clean water. These supplies will be our springboard to develop responsible citizens while reinforcing observing, reporting, and critical thinking skills.
Your donation is critical to us and would definitely make a difference in the education of many students.
Indeed, these supplies would cover all second grade classrooms where kids will share, discuss, and present results. Thank you in advance for supporting the education of responsible citizens!
