it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I'm requesting a Dyson Hard Floor Cleaner and a carpet shampooing machine to create healthier learning environments in both our classroom and school library.
The Dyson Hard Floor Cleaner will allow us to efficiently clean our hard surfaces daily, picking up the inevitable crumbs, pencil shavings, and paper scraps that accumulate throughout our busy days.
Its HEPA filtration system will help remove allergens from the air as we clean.
The carpet shampooing machine will enable us to deep clean our classroom rug and library carpet areas monthly. These spaces see heavy traffic as students gather for instruction, reading circles, and collaborative work. Regular deep cleaning will remove embedded dirt and allergens that affect air quality and student health.
Research consistently shows that clean learning environments lead to better health outcomes and improved academic performance. For our students with asthma and allergies, reducing airborne irritants can decrease absences and increase focus during instructional time.
Beyond the health benefits, this project offers valuable life lessons. Students will take ownership of their space by helping maintain cleaning schedules and learning about environmental health. We'll incorporate mini-lessons on hygiene, environmental responsibility, and the science behind cleaning technologies.
Most importantly, when students feel that their learning environment is valued and cared for, they demonstrate more respect for the space and for each other. Clean spaces promote pride, focus, and a sense of community.
