This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My amazing 2nd grade class is made up of students from a diverse array of backgrounds. They include English Language Learners and students with learning disabilities, dyslexia, ADHD, BI, and autism. I have students coming from single-parent homes and migrant children living with relatives other than their parents. Despite the challenges most of my students face, I am extremely proud of their efforts and eagerness to learn. In our classroom as well as our school, we strive to provide all students with a quality education in a nurturing environment that helps produce well-rounded individuals ready to contribute to society.

My students are creative, inquisitive, and ready for new challenges.

They love to be involved in school projects and academic competitions including Science Fair, Brainsville, UIL, and coding.

Our school is located a few miles from the international border with Mexico which makes our student population very unique.

My Project

An iRobot Roomba will continue to enhance the healthy classroom environment that I strive to create. I sweep, clean and dust on a daily basis; however, there are little particles that are left behind by sweeping. A Roomba will navigate around and under furniture to get those tiny particles to clean the floors. A clean classroom will maximize the learning experience of the students. If a school environment is dirty or unkempt, it can actually have a negative effect on a child’s overall learning experience. When classrooms are neat and tidy, children can put their focus on the task at hand.

A clean environment ensures the health and safety of everyone.

The importance of cleanliness in school reaches far beyond the way things look. It can be much more profound and have a real impact on the quality of the students’ education.
