My students need a healthy environment to learn. Our school is 100 years old with poor air quality and intense heat. My students also need headphones for centers and a printer to display their work.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are great kids who are often growing up in less than ideal circumstances.
Many of my students come from broken homes and they witness violence in their streets.
My school has many students living in poverty, a high level of students receive special education services, and English is not the first language of a large group of students. Too many days my students come to school not dressed in school uniforms that are warm enough. They wear the same short sleeved shirt every day because they do not have long sleeved shirts, sweaters, or sweatshirts to wear during the cold months. They are a great group of individuals that need help to ensure a wonderful elementary experience.
My Project
My students need to learn in a healthy environment. Our school is over 100 years old and an air purifier for the classroom would clean the air of germs and keep the students healthy and ready to learn each day.
My class works in challenging conditions without complaining.
During May and June our classroom becomes extremely hot. We have no air conditioning and fans would help my students to continue learning on hot and humid days.
A color printer would allow my students to print their work to display in the school and also in their homes.
Student headphones will be beneficial to my students during center time. They will be able to access different programs on the computer without disturbing the class.
I would love to give them a cool, quiet room to achieve their greatness!
