My students attend a Pre-K to 5 elementary school in New York City.

Our school is located in the poorest congressional district in the nation, where many, if not all, of my students, lack the basic life essentials. For many of my students, a typical snack consists of things that are high in sugar, salt and fat-- you know, candy bars, potato chips and those sugary drinks with little or no nutritional value.

My Project

With your help, my students will have healthy snacks (granola bars and wheat pretzels) that will be instrumental in reducing childhood obesity, tooth decay, and heart disease. The stress balls can be held in the palm of their hands as they learn how to cope with and manage stressful situations particularly around the holiday season and during testing times. The facial tissues and hand sanitizer will encourage them to practice and develop good hygiene habits during this sneezing, sniffling and coughing season.

By supporting this project, you will be helping my students learn important and essential life lessons, that is, how to cope with and manage stressful situations, practice and develop good hygiene habits as well as why it is important to consume heart-healthy snacks for stronger, healthier bodies!
