This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My class is a family; a family of diverse students from various backgrounds. Many of my children come to school each day with unfinished homework, hungry bellies, and a desire to learn. As a teacher, I want my kindergarten students to have every possibility available to them. I work hard and try to supply my students with all the resources they need to meet every standard for the year.
Working in a Title I school, it is not uncommon for students to come to school late, come to school with no supplies, and come to school already below grade level.
My school has limited supplies and resources that they give each teacher, but sometimes each class needs more for their students' needs. For most of my students, this is their first time in a school setting. Help give these students a great first year in school.
My Project
Safety is a main concern this year for my students and their families. Providing students with personal hand sanitizer is an easy way to keep germs from spreading in our kindergarten class. Students are eating breakfasts and snacks in the classroom and with 25 kids in a class handwashing needs to be quick and effective. Sanitizer is the best way for students to protect themselves against COVID-19!
It's been over a year since some of my students have been in a classroom.
Most of our students have been at home remote learning without snacks and hot lunches that they are use to to fill their bellies. This year while we are working hard to close the education gap this pandemic created healthy snacks will help to keep students motivated and ready to learn.
This small project will make big differences in my ICT kindergarten class.
