My Students
My students come from a variety of backgrounds and home environments, but they are resilient and come to school to learn each day. My students are ages 3, 4, and 5 years old and have moderate to severe low incidence disabilities ranging from autism to various genetic syndrome.
However, in my classroom labels hold no value.
My students hold so much potential and are capable of achieving whatever they set their mind to. I believe that every child can learn, it may not be in the same way or on the same day! Each student is wonderfully unique, creating a diverse group of learners with varying interests, levels of ability, areas of strengths, and learning styles. While each student is different, many effective strategies have been found to help students with special needs learn.
My Project
With a lot of uncertainty, we gear up for an unprecedented school year ahead. The Covid-19 pandemic has changed a lot in this world, especially in terms of education and schools. As a teacher, I want to do everything I can to ensure that my students have what they need during this difficult time.
Whether we are learning remotely or in the classroom, my students and classroom staff need a safe and clean environment to learn and grow.
Most of my students' disabilities and/or genetic disorders leave them at a higher health risk. I want to ensure I can provide my students, the most vulnerable, a safe and clean learning environment if and when we return to the classroom! I am asking for adult and child-size face masks, gloves, hand sanitizer, hand wipes, hand lotion, disinfectant spray, and a thermometer. These supplies will allow me, my classroom staff, and students to remain safe when back in the classroom.
