Some of my 3rd-5th grade students are beginning to experience some of the changes that come with puberty. Learning new routines to help them take care of their changing bodies can be confusing and overwhelming sometimes. This is especially true at the beginning stages of puberty, particularly for students who start puberty before many of their peers.
Having access to menstrual products, cleansing wipes and deodorant when they need it will help students learn to develop self care routines and good hygiene habits to help them feel their best.
Knowing that they can ask for what they need when they need it will help students to feel secure and help them to develop their self-advocacy skills. When students basic needs are met, they are able to give their full attention to learning.
