This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are middle school diverse learners from Chicago's Little Village Community. My students teach me perseverance and resilience every day. Not only do they face the struggles of their disabilities but they face daily struggles in their community like violence, gangs, and poverty. And now they are faced with the unprecedented task of learning remotely and staying safe at home! Yet they smile and work hard to become better readers, mathematicians, and scientists!
They love learning through doing and enjoy fun projects that can demonstrate their true abilities!
I am always looking for ways to make our environment comfortable and our learning fun and engaging, no matter where we are!
My Project
My students have been so brave to come to school in person for Hybrid Learning. I want to ensure I provide a clean & safe environment in the classroom. We will build cleaning & sanitizing our space into our daily routines. We will use the cleaning and disinfecting supplies to clean and sanitize our desks, computers, and surfaces in our classroom.
Also, we have spent over a year reading on a screen!
I want my students to be able to read actual books in the classroom! The disinfecting wand will be used to sanitize our classroom library. Last but not least, our printer is out of ink! My diverse students rely on colorful visuals to be successful. I will use the ink for various activities but more than anything I want to provide them with a fun colorful Summer learning packet so they do not fall behind this Summer. Please help us make this last quarter the BEST possible!
