Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
We are a Leader in Me school, that uses leadership principles to help students become more goal oriented and effective in order to be successful and reach their full potential. The students in our school strive for excellence by using leadership and life skills to cultivate respectful relationships with their peers and adults.
Our students are dedicated hard working and amazing.
The overall number of students consist of students who are English Language Learners, Special Education students, with some general education students.
My Project
COVID-19 has devastated many people around the world. When harsh times come it is easy to forget about the feelings of children. The media reports news that can be troublesome to adults and one can only imagine how children may feel hearing this news. They have a fear of the world now being unsafe. Many of my students come from low income housing or their families struggle with homelessness which is already a struggle they deal with. Now that the pandemic is here and school has begun again, this is an added stress on top of their life hardships. I want my students to know that I am working to create a safe learning space for them.
Safety and security are two of the most basic needs that people need in order to survive and these my number one priority for my students.
Having this air purifier and sanitation wipes will relieve the anxiety of students knowing they have ways to clean their classroom. Not only will these supplies relieve student anxiety but parent anxiety as well. Parents are nervous about sending their babies back to school but want to create a sense of normalcy for their children and they may have to go back to work. I want them to know that I am doing everything in my power to keep our children safe.
