This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our students are the best! They bring a diversity of cultures, interests, and learning levels that are not found in most schools. In my year of teaching Language Arts and reading, I have seldom experienced such a vast spectrum of rich individual experiences as well as the challenge of meeting such needs.

Learning enviroment is critical in providing students a comfortable, safe, and interesting space to learn.

In order to create a diverse, literacy-rich environment, it is imperative that I am able to provide many avenues for students to connect to their passions and strengths as well as work to build on existing skills. My end goal as an educator is for my students to leave my class understanding that they matter, understanding that their opinions are important, and mostly that what they know can change the world for the better.

My Project

Having enough Kleenex tissues, hand sanitizer and disinfecting wipes is near to impossible in the middle of the Covid Pandemic.

My students are constantly needing tissues, which leads to them needing sanitizer since I'm out in a portable and have no sink or soap to wash hands.

After they leave the classroom, I disinfect their desks. Keeping up with all the sanitation and cleaning to keep us all safe often leaves me in need of supplies. This project would help keep my classroom armed with the tools to keep my students healthy and safe in our learning environment.
