This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Throughout each school day, students spill their water bottles, go to the bathroom to get paper towels. The paper towels are not absorbent, so multiple trips to the bathroom for papers towels are required. Students are missing valuable class time in attempts to clean up their spilled water. At our school, all of the students qualify for free breakfast, so we eat in our classrooms every morning. Naturally, milk ends up getting spilled. This clean up process takes even longer than cleaning up water!
If we had rolls of paper towels in our room to clean up milk and water, students would miss less instruction going back and forth to the bathroom to clean up their spills.
Unfortunately, students have resorted to using tissue to clean up small messes since they are more absorbent than the bathroom paper towels. This means we have already gone through most of our tissue supply for the year.
