My Students
I have the enjoyment of coaching cheerleading to ninth through twelfth grade athletes in a Title One school. Many of them come from low income families and are not afforded the same opportunities as students from surrounding districts. Despite the lack of materials and opportunities, they show up ready to spread cheer and practice daily. Their drive for cheer is what makes me come to work everyday. I want the best for them and I am striving each day to provide that for them.
My athletes deserve to have a safe, engaging learning environment with the necessary materials to succeed.
I enjoy coaching my girls and helping them make connections to real world experiences. As their coach, I am making sure they have a firm foundation which will help them as they progress through their lives and future cheer careers.
My Project
The cheerleaders currently change clothes in a crowded office with clothes shoes, and bags everywhere. This change will give the girls a sense of ownership and teach them to keep things clean and orderly.
These materials will help give my cheerleaders an organized and clean space to call their own.
The cubbies, hooks and phone organizer will help my girls keep up with the things they lose and leave in the office on a daily basis. We practice hard on a daily basis. My girls would greatly appreciate a space that is clean where they can take a break.
