This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Our students are ready to grow! Warm and rigorous early childhood education lays the foundation for our kids to succeed. In our classroom, two of our mottos are, "Everyone can play and learn" and "I will do my best."
Most of my students have never been in school before, so right now they are developing a lifelong love of literacy and learning.
Our school hosts a Parent Child Center, so having the opportunity to do a load of laundry while they volunteer in the classroom is draw for our families who may not have laundry facilities in their homes.
My Project
Little learners get dirty fast! From our costumes in the dramatic play area, to the towels we use to dry off the slides outside when it rains, our classroom alone generates a lot of laundry! Then, between bathroom accidents and paint spills, we end up sending a lot of dirty uniforms home.
Our school hosts a Parent Child Center with a washer and dryer, so having the opportunity to do a load of laundry while they volunteer in the classroom is draw for our families to come get involved at school.
Since many families do not have laundry facilities in their homes, they might otherwise have to spend their time taking the bus and waiting while they do their washing at the laundromat, instead of helping children learn.
A project to buy learning games for my classroom just got funded, so this is the perfect time to pair training parent volunteers as "game experts" with giving them a chance to get a chore done at the same time.
