Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

We are a quaint little school in a neighborhood that feels like a small town in a big city.

At our school, classes are small and everyone is treated like family.

The majority of students come from low-income households and have limited resources, yet we have an extremely active PTA. We take great pride in the level of parental involvement at our school. My students are bright and engaged. They have a love of school and have a love of learning.

My Project

I am requesting a HEPA air filter for my classroom.

I want to create a clean environment that eliminates dust particles and odors from the air.

I would like for every student to be present in my classroom every day and an air filter will cut down on the spreading of germs during the winter months. I am requesting replacement filters so that we are able to use our filter for the full school year.

I would also like mesh bags for math manipulatives. I frequently use plastic sandwich bags so that each student has his/her own set of manipulatives. I would love to reduce the amount of single-use plastic that is used in our classroom. These bags are reusable and it will make it easier to sanitize the small pieces we use for counting and measuring.
