This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
As a special education teacher in a low socioeconomic Title I school, all the students qualify for free breakfast and lunch. My class consists of 13 students. My kids are faced with many challenges in and outside the classroom. They are academically two years below grade level. Many of my students come from single parent homes. Although my kids have varying disabilities (LD, Autism, ED and Mentally Handicapped), they are eager to learn and succeed. I want to provide an atmosphere that is safe, and welcoming. Help me engage and inspire my students by becoming a partner in their learning.
My Project
My students are in need of everyday essentials. My homeless students come to school insecure and unsure of themselves.
Homeless students do not have the products and supplies to help keep them fresh and clean.
By having body wash, tooth paste, tooth brush , Q-tips and body spray in our care closet we can provide our students with everyday essential and supplies.
As educators we want to provide a safe and comfortable environment for all students. If students do not want to attend school because they do not have soap or clean cloths and a tooth brush we are failing our students. A care closet full of everyday essentials give our students confidence . My job is not only to educator but to increase their confidence and self worth.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
