Clean and Equal: Promoting Justice Through School Cleaning Supplies
Help me give my students water and school cleaning supplies to promote equity, student health, and environmental justice by addressing disparities in access to quality cleaning materials in schools.

My Project
For the same basic reasons as all students, students in low socioeconomic areas require a clean and healthy environment, but, because of preexisting disparities, the stakes are frequently higher. Conditions like poor sanitation increase the risk of illness (like asthma, infections, and allergies), which are already more common in low-income communities. Research shows a direct link between clean environments and student focus, test scores, and overall academic achievement. My students deserve a clean learning environment and access to water for hydration so they are able to stay engaged longer with their academic instruction.
Ensuring all students have a clean learning environment is a matter of educational justice—every child deserves the same standard of care, no matter where they live or what their school budget is.
As an educator, I am advocating for the right of every student to access a clean, safe learning environment.
