My students are, without a doubt, challenged. Many are economically disadvantaged with little parental support. Some struggle with emotional needs. Most have been displaced at some level by the flood following Hurricane Harvey. Even my honor students struggle with stability in the chaos of the aftermath.
My students need to reach their full potential, and I want to be a part.
They are weary and unmotivated due to the stresses of "life after Hurricane Harvey." Many are ill due to exposure to poor and dangerous living conditions. School is a safe haven for many of my kids.
They deserve something GOOD!
My Project
The students are sensitive to the air quality in our temporary learning environment. The diffuser will help clean the air and lessen student sickness and concern. Many are living in conditions similar to this at home as well. Student health is a major concern when they are in school for eight hours or more daily.
Clean air will improve health and learning.
Due to the temporary location, we do not have access to much storage and organizational material we would normally use in our regular classrooms. The sorter trays will help to keep assignments organized for both teacher and students.
