This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are mostly minority students who come from low-income family backgrounds. They are very active and enjoy coming to school and learning science.
They are always ready to learn new skills and explore new opportunities, but the unavailability of resources makes it hard for them to understand some of the abstract concepts that I teach; therefore, the need to explain the concepts in ways that make them real, captivating and interesting becomes imperative.
My students enjoy completing class projects that involve hands-on experiments, programming, art, and research, which helps them express their understanding of chemistry concepts in their own way by creating new meanings of their discoveries.
My Project
I have wonderful students who come to school ready to learn every day. Unfortunately, the air system in my classroom is old and drips water whenever it is working. We have to place a bucket outside the classroom to collect the water dripping so that it does not cause accidents in the hallway. As a result of the drip, my classroom is left with an awful odor throughout the day. The odor comes from the vent, and it is making some of my students sick. I am therefore, requesting an air purifier to help remove the bacteria and mold in the air that is causing the odor so that my students will be able to breathe fresh air. I am also requesting humidifiers to help my students’ breath easily in the classroom.
Studies have shown that long-term exposure to particles in the air such as bacteria and mold can result in significant health problems including respiratory symptoms.
My students' health and happiness is very important to me, that's why I need your help to provide them with a humidifiers, Air Wick Pure Freshmatic Automatic Spray Starter Kit and Ozium air purifiers. These items will help my students’ breath better and stay healthy.
