This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

This upcoming school year I will be teaching an outstanding and hardworking group of 3rd graders. They are all native Spanish speakers and English Language Learners. More than half of my students come from a soci-economically disadvantaged families. This courageous bunch is eager to learn and return to in person learning.

My Project

If this project is funded an air purifier will provide a safer and cleaner learning environment for my studnets. Our school district has decided to return to in person learning without reducing class sizes. This will make implementing social distancing measures a challenge in the classroom. Given the surge of the new Delta variant COVID-19 has become an even bigger threat to our students age group. As we approach California wildfire seasons we must find a means for proper air ventilation in our classroom.

An air purifier with a HEPA filter will help reduce the spread of COVID-19 and assist with proper air ventilation during fire

season.

Although students will be required to wear masks and all classroom windows and doors will be open an air purifier will serve as a preventative safety measure. With the increasing amount of California wildfires we fear air quality and our dependence on outside air flow to ventilate our classrooms.
