Worrying about food, money, transportation, and clothing are adult worries, yet many of the students at my school face these "grown-up" problems each day. In spite of the challenges they face, they constantly rise to the occasion and frequently blow me away with their ability to learn.
My students come from a wide variety of backgrounds.
Our school has a very high ESOL population and free/reduced lunch. Some have, and some do not. It is my job to level their playing field so that all have a chance to be successful.
Through a hands-on, exciting, and active learning environment, my kindergarten students strive to do their best every day. My students are active, excited, super sweet kindergarteners who love to learn!
My Project
Most of the time, when we think of fighting allergies, asthma, and sinus infections, we think of the air quality of our home. However, for anyone that works or studies in a school or office is highly affected by the amount of dust, dander, mold, bacteria, viruses, mildew, etc.
Teachers, students, and all staff members work in an environment that tremendously affects their own respiratory health.
I'm requesting two Germ Guardian Air Purifiers and replacement filters for my classroom.
By using an air purifier in my own home, I have noticed a significant difference in my own health and ability to breathe clearly. So, I thought to myself... wait, why doesn't every classroom have one? I am constantly fighting the dust and germs in my classroom. I do my best to keep the environment a clean and healthy one so my students do not become sick and ultimately be forced to miss instruction. As our country battles with the Covid-19 virus it is imperative to do anything extra we can to ensure a clean breathing environment. By purifying the air the children are breathing for eight hours a day, I will in effect be creating a "win-win situation" for the children, their parents, and myself (as their teacher and as a human that needs clean air to be healthy and at school)!
