Help me give my students clean air to increase our safety in the classroom this year! This air purifier will reduce allergens, pollen, and most importantly, virus-containing droplets and particles.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students represent a unique demographic within the Seattle community. They are in a dual-language, biliteracy program in English and Spanish. A majority of my students are students of color, their families are low-income, and their communities have suffered tremendously from the COVID-19 pandemic. My students face many daily challenges, but they are steadfastly enthusiastic about learning and are always eager to share what they know.
My Project
This high-quality HEPA air purifier will increase the cleanliness of the air my students and I breathe during in-person learning this year. Air quality has always been important, especially for those among us who are more vulnerable to unhealthy air because of medical conditions like asthma or severe allergies.
Never has it been more urgent than now to provide clean air in the classroom for our students.
According to the CDC and WHO, the coronavirus is transmitted primarily through airborne particles and droplets that can linger in the air for hours. Universal masking is our first layer of protection given that masks reduce the risk of contraction by one third, says the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation at the University of Washington.
My students and I will all be wearing masks and this air purifier will add another layer of protection by significantly decreasing any virus particles that make it out into our classroom air.
Your support of my project will help all of us start and finish the year in person!
