This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

We are a diverse first grade, integrated collaborative teaching (ICT) class, with a combined mixture of general and special education students at a large, high-needs, Title I school in the north Bronx. Although the majority of students come from low-income homes or from homes with limited parental involvement, they are enthusiastic and truly come to school every day ready to learn. These children see school as a consistent part of their daily lives and strive daily to make me proud.

My 24 first graders are some of the happiest children I have ever had the pleasure of working with.

Not only do several of them struggle with unstable home lives, but many cope with various disabilities, such as ADHD, autism, and speech and language impairments. These kids inspire me to provide the best education I can for them.

My Project

My students will utilize the Air Purifier machine on a daily basis. Kids sit in close proximity to one another, many times with little ventilation. In these conditions, it’s no wonder that diseases are passed around so frequently. Air purifiers can filter out such airborne allergens, potentially helping to reduce the symptoms suffered by children. This is good for everyone, allowing children to breathe easier and reducing interruptions in class from coughing, sneezing, and wheezing.

Sickness is inevitable; clean air is not!

Kids miss school, teachers miss work, and everyone is miserable. While we all take steps to halt the spread of germs, we often overlook a simple way to help clear the air: HEPA air purifiers. Such high-quality HEPA filters are also used in health care settings to stop the spread of infectious diseases. They’re ideal for use in classrooms, allowing students and teachers alike to breathe healthy, clean air.
