This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My middle school math students come from many different cultures and backgrounds. Inside the classroom, they are creative, inquisitive, and learn in various ways. They love engaging lessons, hands-on activities, and technology-infused lessons. Every day, they come to school eager to learn and excel. I always look forward to watching them overcome their various struggles as they progress throughout the school year.
Not only are my students eager learners but they are also very thoughtful and giving.
They help each other through small acts like providing a pencil to a classmate in need, and through great acts of kindness like standing up for a friend that has not been treated fairly. It is a daily pleasure to work with these amazing kids.
Our school is a Title I school which means that there is a large concentration of low-income students. After conducting individual interviews with my students, I have realized that several of them do not have access to technology.
My Project
Obtaining an air purifier for my physical classroom will help in keeping the air clean and free of germs. By reducing the amount of germs in the air, my students are less likely to get sick. Daily attendance is one of the major factors of students maintaining good grades and understanding of the material. Because of COVID-19, more than half of my 120 students are online. In order to gain best participation of my students it has come to my attention that I must have two monitors to be most effective. The second monitor will allow me to keep a constant eye on all of my students faces during Zoom calls.
