I love that my students are creative, resourceful, and passionate about their artwork and the art-making process. I have some extremely talented young people among my ranks. A good many of my students don't have the means to acquire art tools and materials; these materials are secondary to traditional school supplies. They are resilient and don't let this setback or deplete their creative spirits.
Offering a range of challenging tools and materials may just be the key to engaging some of these amazing young people to see their own potential.
Our school offers AP Art courses that give our students the opportunity to obtain college credit. This is an extremely rigorous program and requires a maximum amount of effort.
My Project
Having a pug mill in our classroom will allow us to safely be able to process our scrap clay back into a usable material. It will allow students to learn more about the clay making process and the ceramics industry. This would allow us to take our ceramics program to the next level! We will create less waste by recycling our scrap clay and cut back on the amount of intensive labor it takes to rework the overly dry by hand. Students will have an opportunity to gain skills that they can apply to real world experiences in the future.
