Do you remember that special chunk of clay that you took home and mother just thought it was fantastic? I want my students to each have the opportunity to do special things with clay that they will always remember. Using clay in class is my students favorite activity of the year!
I teach inner city students in a K-8 grades, who don't have the opportunity that many other students have during their grade school years.
My students are fantastic kids and are always enthusiastic about art and especially making projects using clay.
My Project
Our students will be able to do projects with the ceramic supplies. Art and especially clay has a special effect on students. Working with clay helps with the development of the whole person. There is something about the feel of clay in your hands that brings a person closer to the earth, with its smell and touch. If this project gets funded, many more of my students will get the opportunity to have that experience.
I want to be able to give every student a special memory of that little piece of clay that their mother will be so proud of and that gets placed in that special place in their home.
We all have those fun memories when we were younger and I want to provide each of my students this same opportunity.
