CLAWing Our Way to LEAP!

My Project

My 3rd grade students will learn about finances this year! It's definitely not something to wait until adulthood to learn about! I want my students to learn about this as accurately as possible. My students have leadership roles/jobs in the classroom and earn Tiger Bucks for effectively completing these tasks weekly. I want them to have a way to spend their Tiger Bucks for rewards! I want to make sure my students are financially aware when they leave my classroom. We will be preparing for the LEAP test day in and day out and I want them to have opportunities to be rewarded for their efforts!

Children who come from low-income backgrounds are often at a disadvantage when it comes to financial literacy.

Majority of my students come from low income households who do the best they can to meet their basic needs financially. By incorporating financial literacy into my classroom management routines and small group reading time, I feel confident that I can expand students' perspectives of how to use, earn, and save for the future.

In my classroom, students have responsibility/leadership roles that they earn Tiger Bucks. They can also earn Tiger Bucks for their positive behavior! When they earn so many Tiger Bucks, they will get opportunities to play on the Claw Machine to earn prizes for their hard work!
