Classroom YA Fiction Library

My students need to be able to read something of interest. I have such a diverse population and I know that when they have options in what they read, they are more likely to love reading.

My Students

I currently teach Language Arts in an inner-city school. My students struggle with reading, therefore, it's important that I have some relevant and intriguing new books for them to read in my classroom. The more relevant the subject matter, the more likely students are to dive in! My students are the most rewarding part of my job!

These students are students typically slated to fail but who have decided that they will succeed and who are working actively on their reading skills.

Despite their struggles, my students are some of the most determined, hard-working students I have ever had the privilege of being around.

My Project

As I mentioned before, my students struggle with reading. I think part of that is ability, but another portion of the problem is that they aren't reading something that truly interests them. I've specifically chosen a set of books that I think will appeal to many different groups of students so that I would hopefully have something for just about everyone.

I know students will be more likely to choose reading if they get to read something they love.

It is for this reason that I'm asking for your help. I would be very grateful for your contribution and willingness to help my students learn to love reading more.
