Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Every day, my students come into my classroom eager to learn. They participate in shared reading and math, guided reading, and interactive centers for reading, writing, and math. My students believe the will be the best kindergarten readers, writers, and math "whizzes" in Texas.
Our School is a Title I School, it is also an IR (Improvement Required) school and I chose to teach at this school because these students deserve the opportunity to receive a quality education.
I will have up to 24 students in my classroom. My kindergarten students are bright, energetic and have a desire to learn as soon as they walk through the door of my classroom. They are inquisitive, confident and take risks because they want to learn. My students do not know their school is facing challenges. They only know I'm going to help them be the best readers, writers, and math "whizzes"
in the state of Texas.
My Project
I am asking for some tablets, journals, prize box materials and other resources for my classroom. The tablets will serve multiple purposes. They will be utilized by my students during both math and literacy centers.
With these resources, my students will be able to start building their own portfolios by photographing their finished work, and uploading it to their classdojo portfolios.
This will give them a sense of pride and ownership over their goals and accomplishments during their centers work, and allow them to share their work with their teacher and their parents. The tablets will also help me, as a teacher, better see student progress and evaluate the efficacy of centers.
The journals will allow my students to begin working on proper letter formation while learning how to record, communicate, and illustrate their thoughts.
The playdough will last our classroom the entire year and can be utilized in multiple centers. The tactile activities will help the student commit their learning to memory through a multilevel experience.
Lastly the prize box will be used to reward and motivate my students throughout the school year.
