Classroom Upgrade With Graphic Novels

Help me give my students a high-interest, up-to-date, culturally inclusive, relevant classroom library!

My Project

Our district lost funding for a librarian and library over a decade ago. Now each classroom tries to maintain an up-to-date library. I teach 80 English Language Learners from 3rd to 7th grade, so a variety of levels, languages, and interest ares are needing to be covered.

Many of my students share that they are not a fan of reading unless it's a graphic novel.

I hope to use these new books to build student confidence in reading and help kindle an interest in reading for leisure in either Spanish or English. I hope to have students also participate in student directed book clubs, so that they can share their enjoyment of the books with their peers.
