An effective learning environment is crucial because it allows students to gain a greater complexity of understanding when learning information and concepts.
For effective learning to occur, students need to actively participate in their learning.
Hands-on learning increases student engagement. The Jumbo Magnetic Coordinate Grid, Mobile Whiteboard, and 2D/3D Geometric shapes will allow my students to engage in more hands-on activities. It will even help my students visualize concepts and information that are more abstruse.
Anchor charts are another way to support students learning. Anchor charts help students answer questions and process ideas or reasoning. The math posters and algebra charts will be used as anchor charts in the classroom. The voice level and feelings poster will be used as anchor charts to reinforce positive behaviors. The digital clock will be used to help students manage their time without the use of a cell phone and prevent wasted time.
Many of my students come from disadvantaged backgrounds, making learning challenging for many of them. COVID has impacted learning worldwide. For my students, it had put them further behind. My students have to learn the required 9th-grade material and catch up on material they had lost during the COVID-19 pandemic. Mathematics is one subject that has been greatly affected by COVID. My students are intelligent and creative, but because of COVID, they lack solid mathematical foundational skills. Many of my students didn't and still don't have mathematical support at home. Covid has also impacted my students' social and emotional learning. They require extra support to control their emotions and interactions with their peers.
These tools, like the anchor charts and visual aids, will help make learning more effective and provide better support for understanding mathematical concepts and classroom rules. My students enjoy hands-on activities and visual aids.
