This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My goal is to have a steady stream of toner in our classroom. This high-yield ink toner is capable of printing 10,000 black-and-white copies per cartridge.
It is way more cost-effective than purchasing standard ink, jet cartridges for an inkjet printer.
I made the initial investment this year into a classroom printer out of my own money; however, I find that sustaining our ink supply has been very costly on my end.
Every office faces the same issues that the school is facing when it comes to coffee machines; they often break down when you need them the most.
I purchased a LaserJet printer for our classroom for that specific reason. Often, we are out of paper or toner for our own coffee machine and have to wait for a maintenance individual to replenish it.
I want my classroom to be a well-oiled machine, and being able to print copies of worksheets on demand, without leaving my students unattended, which is a violation of my trust with my kids, and I will never do that.
I have found that even when a student is absent, it is missing documents or missing assignments, and they come back and see me. I can get all those things for them in that moment as opposed to having them come by after school, after I printed them out in another remote part of the building.
