Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
The minds of my students crave knowledge. They want to know everything they can, and I want to give it to them. My students come from low income households and English is their second language. They don’t get to experience many things outside their neighborhood and have limited resources. Even with the challenges they face they show up to school every day eager to learn and explore all subjects. Every student is unique in his or her strengths and challenges, and it is my job to foster highly individualized learning in response to the student.
My Project
Technology is always an exciting addition to any classroom. Using apps in the classroom is one great way to enhance students’ learning and help keep them stay engaged in the material. I want to be able to give my students the ability to use these tablets for small groups and research for assignments.
Students will use these Kindle Fire tablets daily for literacy interventions, writing, and research.
I would also love to be able to use new digital resources with my students. In my ESL classroom, the tablets will encourage collaboration and help to further develop their speaking and writing skills by using programs that aid in the learning process. By donating to this project, you will be helping my students adapt to the ever-changing technology.
The students in my class will use these tablets to access apps that will enrich and develop stronger skills in language arts and reading. With these tablets, the students will be able to engage in educational websites and games. We currently only have four computers available to use during center time. Adding more tablets would allow more children to have learning options available.
