Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our school is a large urban public school with almost 1000 students. Our students come from mostly low-income or impoverished backgrounds with almost all of our students receiving free breakfast and lunch. Our school is a very ethnically diverse school. Students speak a multitude of languages including English, Spanish, Hindi, Bengali, and Arabic.
As diverse as our students are economically and culturally, they are also diverse in their academics and the resource tools needed to better their education.
Our school district lacks the funding to give all students the tools needed for them to succeed. My students don't let that bother them though. They come to school eager to learn and to become a better citizen.
I teach fourth grade Social Studies and Science. I have 3 classes of 25-30 students. Each class, is eager to learn, but our lack of resources hinder their opportunities. Unfortunately, these students don't receive the tools needed to fully succeed, like their peers from better economic school districts. My students DESERVE the same as everyone else. Please help us achieve this!!
My Project
My students need the access to technology like all of their peers around the nation. We can use the computers for Google classroom, testing, research projects, typing, use of everyday programs like Microsoft, educational websites, etc. Even the simple lesson of sending an email will be taught via these materials. Most students don’t have computers at home. This can allow them access it, via the trust program, of borrowing it and returning it. Teaching respect and responsibility. Question is....What can we NOT do with technology?!? With these Chromebooks our possibilities are endless!! All I need is your help!!! Please help!
