My Students

I have taught 6th grade for the past three years. This upcoming year, I will be moving to 2nd grade. AHHHH! I'm SO excited. This move is the fit I've been looking for, and I can't wait to meet my new students.

My new 2nd grade classroom will include approximately 20 friends.

My classroom will consist of a variety of students. There will be varying levels of academic development and varying levels of social & emotional development. However, they all share the same drive to learn new things and be good people.

This summer, I will be working in my classroom to ensure it's a welcoming and safe environment for my 2nd graders. Their excitement and love of learning will be infectious. Is it September yet?!

My Project

An organized and comfortable classroom promotes all levels of learning. Students grow academically, socially, and emotionally. This project will give my classroom the items needed to develop this growth.

We will gather, as a classroom family, on the large rug for our morning meetings and social-emotional learning, whole-group lessons in both literacy and math, and read aloud time.

The smaller rug will be a cozy place for my students to read with partners or read to themselves. The two rugs will allow for more focused learning time for all of my students.

Each student will be able to learn responsibility and organizational skills by having his/her own mailbox slot in the slotted organizer and drawer in the 10-drawer cart. The student's drawer will hold all of his/her individual math manipulatives, differentiated reading books, and dry erase supplies. At the end of the day, each student will gather up his/her mail and pack it all up to share with his/her family.

My students and I spend most of our day in our classroom. I strive to make it a cozy, organized, and stress-free zone. Your support will ensure that my students have this atmosphere.
